Oklahoma....I know now your singing the song from your favorite musical?!!
We we have arrived. They decided to turn up the heat for us and pretend to be AZ.....104 today 35% humidity. I bit warm. We are camped at the Fort Supply Lake State park. It is beautiful and we have a great view. Another military installation. Thank goodness for electric and AC ! We got here, set up and came in to cool down. All she wrote we were both in our recliners asleep.
It was a very windy drive today so Dave had to really hold on and anticipate the gifts from trucks. We were on back roads the whole way with not much traffic. Not much in the way of towns either. We were in Farm country or reservation almost the whole way. We did not see gas or any business for over 2 hours. We stopped at the first one we saw. It was a casino on the Osage reservation. Very nice bathrooms. We both commented on the smell of smoke in the casino as we walked out.
We got into more level terrain and saw huge farms, cows and hay seemed to be predominate. Lots of corn for a bit.
We are out side Woodward OK. Nice little town. I spotted a Braums as we drove through. So our Friday night date night was going to include ice cream!
We drove back into town, Dave had seen a Mexican restaurant that looked good and that was his plan..
It was packed. We opted to just go to Braums and had a burger and fries. We shopped for the few things we needed in the market there. Great prices and selection for such a tiny little store.
By then eye had created some cracks to fill with ice cream. You know there is always room for ice cream it just fills in the cracks. I have to say yummy yummy yummy. Where can you get a double cone and three scoops for 5.39? It is very good ice cream. We had to eat it quickly so it did not melt All over us.
We took a drive around the lake when we returned. It was after 8 pm. Still over 100, people boating and swimming.
We continue to have battery issues. We are narrowing it down. Ever since someone tried to steal the generator we have had issues. Hoping it was just a wire pulled. We can not see one, but we are true novices.
We did start to see more oil wells in the fields today. Definitely a petroleum based area. Huge refineries as well.
We also got into wind farm territory. And yes they were actually moving.
You know it was a desolate day when In 249 miles we only saw 3 dollar Generals. We really only saw 2 sizable towns.
We also drove by some beautiful table mesas. Red dirt and everything. The back to flat farmland.
Roadkill count 1 skunk 2 dead. Thousands of shredded tires.
No more armadillos..
We are happy to be settled and enjoying some music.
For those of you keeping up on Skipbo...score this week Dave 11 Bobbi 3. Another slaughter for me!
We will go over 6 thousand miles tomorrow!
Happy birthday in heaven to my dad Bill. I know you would love this trip and hearing about it.
That was one skinny turkey! I have never seen them in the wild like that! Never had a Braum’s but it must be good!
If you drive through Moore OK - get me a Toby Keith souvenir! Enjoy and be safe! ❤️
