Three states today. Oklahoma,Kansas and Colorado. We drove the farm roads im pretty sure. Two lanes, no dirt. I had a few reroutes to avoid the dirt roads.
We played chicken with combines, tractors and hay roll carriers. Some of those roads were skinny.
We saw beautiful fields, green and several were freshly cut. Tons of cows! lots and lots of feed lots. Yes I blamed Dave for passing gasš the smell was special.
We passed cattle trucks all day long. It was truly in the back roads of farm land.
It was over 2 hours to our first gas station. Yep we filled up, and the gas was still 1.50 cheaper than AZ. We watched the gas tank because Google showed very few options..
The fields shared space with oil wells the whole way. Lots of storage tanks as well. We saw several large natural gas storage areas. The few little towns we did see had grain or processing plants.
We were worried it was going to be our first day without Dollar General. The count is 2 and one semi delivering goods. Another complete day.
It was fun to see all the calves in the fields. We also saw several herds of sheep.
The best drive through Oklahoma I've ever had. Kansas too. We had fields to look at and cows to see. Much better than the interstate.
And if you need a fence just collect old wrecked cars and stack them up. Can't make it up I tell you..
We crossed the Arkansas Creek (river) many times. It Must pick up water further south. We were both surprised by the lack of water and how a few days ago it was very full.
We had planned to stop in Holly Colorado at a city camp ground. Thank goodness we had not paid for it prior to arrival. It was sketchy to say the least. And right by the town park and ball field. We drove through looked at each other and said let's get outta here!
We went the 29 miles to Lamar. Is it glamorous no. But safe and clean.
We will be lulled to sleep by the passing š semi trucks I'm sure.
Nice to be back in Colorado weather where by 6 pm it's great to be outside
We are sitting in the gravel driveway but we are cool and the breeze is great. We had a beautiful sunset
We are including a picture of the nieghbors, horse trailer and horses in a very nice rig. Dave called it the Ta Majal. Fresh manure is the scent of the night.
You are going to have a wonderful 4th of July. So good to be with those you love! ā¤ļø
Send me some CO weather please!! Another record breaking day! š„µš„µš„µ
