Sorry folks we have been so busy I have been slacking!
We arrived at Clark and MiChell's in Greenleaf ID. West of Boise. Beautiful home complete with Tarmac's runway access for your small plane. We saw the neighbors taxi out each morning. Clark opted to fill his building with cars, boats and motorcycles! I'm blessed that one of the current cars in the garage is my 72 LeMans convertible. Clark is going to have a winter project restoring it with all the parts etc. Lance had bought. He does amazing work like his brother so feeling so overjoyed. Hopefully next winter it will be In AZ.
We were able to drive the comfortable through town during a car show and go for a burger at a local drive-in. Clark took his Jeep that he restored. We were like two teenagers in that car. So much fun. Dave had a great time driving it. After some more cruising of course we had to hit Stella's the local ice cream shop! So much fun.
We taught Clark and MiChell to play Skipbo. Lots of fun.
Of course Easton the doodle was so happy to see his buddy Dave. He made himself right at home in the camper.
Saturday found the boys fixing a few things in the camper and the shop. And of course College football. Little bit of laundry and just enjoying the beautiful day. We headed out about 4 to a local winery for a concert. Petty Theft, a Ton Petty tribute band. They were amazing. We filled up the wagon with food and chairs sat in the grass and enjoyed great friends and music, oh and of course great people watching. We noticed that no one smoked at all, so different than Colorado. It was a nice night weather wise. I had my shoes off and feet in the grass. We enjoyed wonderful food and some drank wine.
Sunday we slept in. Of course more football and food. MiChell and I went to the local corn stand, honor system. Picked corn out of the big cooler, then off to the local fruit and veggie stand. Packed with local produce. Huge peaches, plums, apples, onions and of course potatoes!
I picked up a few things to try. We also got a yummy Boysenberry pie for dessert.
We headed to Ted and Mary's for a yummy meatloaf dinner. Again great company. Clark is buying this property as it has acreage and a vineyard. Clark and MiChell have great plans for the property and existing house. Planning our next trip to see what they do.
Clark and Ted have been making very good wine for the last 5 years. Can't wait to see what develops. Oh and its right on lake Lowell, 5 mins to the boat ramp.
Monday founds is headed north to Grangeville. Another beautiful drive through the farming and rolling hills in Idaho . We have learned a lot about farming and what is grown here.
Potato field abundance! The snake River valley is a perfect location.
So many cows! Both milking and for meat. Hay And alfalfa every where. Near Boise they grow onions, mint and Hops. Field everywhere. You can smell the onions and mint as you pass by. The onions were drying in the fields.
Simplot is one of the largest potato companies around and they process frozen potatoes right down the road.
The lifestyle here is just different, more like the simple life we grew up with. We both just loved it. Oh except the flies!
The amount of creeks and rivers here still amaze us both. We watched the rafters yesterday on the Little salmon.
Little Towns all along the way, nice clean and simple life.
The dirt and hayfields here are so green and jet black dirt.
We got to test out the heater in the camper a couple mornings. Worked great!
Dave had moved to Long pants and sleeves. I did wear capri's!
The night we went to town in the comfortable I wore jeans and glad I did. It was chilly with the sun down.
It's a state with rolling hills, farms green lawns, mountains and water. Rivers that are huge. We have seen lots of lumber trucks and a couple mills.
We sat outside yesterday, Dave was mesmerized by watching the horses move in the pasture.
Overall and amazing work in Idaho
We will be back !
Dad
